<p><b>Location: </b>St Agnes Catholic High School - Rooty Hill</p><p dir="ltr">The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for two (Job share) passionate and dedicated Science Laboratory Assistant to provide support and assistance to our teachers at St Agnes Catholic High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;This shared role comprises one position with a three-day work week and another with a two-day work week. (Please indicate your preference in your cover letter)</p> <p dir="ltr">Laboratory Assistants maintain the laboratories, equipment and materials in a manner which allows their efficient use by the school’s teaching staff and students.</p> <p dir="ltr">The successful applicant/s will be working closely with the Science teachers, and they will coordinate and prepare tasks and practical activities for the classroom.&nbsp; This role will require flexibility to work within the school’s curriculum timetable.</p> <p dir="ltr">This position is temporary working between 8am and 2.30pm on their allocated day.</p> <p dir="ltr">&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">The Laboratory Assistant is accountable for:</p> <p dir="ltr">-Employees are required to support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools.</p> <p dir="ltr">-Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team</p> <p dir="ltr">-Demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines</p> <p dir="ltr">-Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel</p> <p dir="ltr">-Strong planning and organisation skills</p> <p dir="ltr">-Demonstrated ability to maintain the quality of assigned work</p> <p dir="ltr">-Preparing simple chemical solutions and, under instruction, more complicated solutions</p> <p dir="ltr">-Developing and using appropriate storage systems, including for dangerous and toxic substances consistent with safety data sheets</p> <p dir="ltr">&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">The successful applicant will have:</p> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">The ability to maintain the school laboratory and preparation room in a clean and workable order.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Experience in preparation of laboratory solutions and handle, store and dispose of chemicals in compliance with regulations.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Sound knowledge of general scientific equipment and ability to maintain equipment.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Ability to prepare, provide and store equipment and resources for practical work for science classes and ensure equipment is cleaned and in good working order, and organise repairs as necessary.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Demonstrated experience maintaining a safe working environment.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.</p> </li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Typical Experience and Qualifications</strong></p> <p>- Tertiary qualifications in the relevant area of study (please supply)</p> <p>- Appropriate demonstrated experience</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Interested?</strong></p> <p>This position involves working with children.
