<p>Wilderness School is a non-denominational girls’ school educating students from Early Learning through to Year 12. Since 1884, Wilderness School has prepared girls to be adventurous, courageous, responsible and respectful learners and leaders.</p> <p>Following the appointment of the current Head of Boarding to an international school a unique opportunity exists for a values driven, innovative and authentic leader to manage and guide the Wilderness boarding community. This opportunity will be available from January 2024.</p> <p>The Head of Boarding is responsible for providing leadership in all aspects of the boarding program, and works in partnership with staff and leaders to ensure the boarding school is a welcoming and supportive community where students experience a diverse range of inclusive and engaging academic and cocurricular opportunities.</p> <p>This role reports to the Principal and is an integral part of the Wilderness School Community. Responsibilities include building relationships across the community and school, building the capability and performance of the team supporting boarders, developing best practices and becoming knowledgeable and an expert in contemporary boarding practices.</p> <p>The Wilderness Boarding Community is made up of girls from regional, interstate and international locations and the broader school community values this diversity. The boarders form a tight group of remarkable young women who demonstrate a wide range of abilities. Whilst the academic life of the School is a key focus, the boarding philosophy at Wilderness strives to foster growth by responding to the individual needs, gifts and talents of each girl.</p> <p>Well integrated as a part of the school, the Boarding House has a relaxed ambience with a combination of heritage and purpose-built contemporary accommodation. Plans for further development are currently underway.</p> <p>To be successful in this role you will bring:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in a boarding or residential environment</li> <li>An appreciation and understanding of what is needed to manage a successful boarding environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience as a leader with proven ability to develop strong relationships based on trust and collaboration.</li> <li>Excellent skills in problem solving and decision making, including the ability to analyse, identify solutions, and make appropriate decisions.</li> <li>Excellent skills in communicating to staff, students and parents through the gathering and delivery of information.</li> <li>An ongoing commitment to learning and self-development, particularly in relation to boarding and girls’ education.</li> <li>A commitment to, and a clear understanding of, the ethos of the Wilderness School and the Wilderness’ Mission and Values.</li> </ul> <p>Wilderness School is committed to child safety.
