Marist College Kogarah is seeking an experienced Laboratory Assistant who is passionate about Science to support our Science faculty for a temporary position, 60 hours per fortnight, at the College in 2024.

The position is responsible for providing a safe teaching and learning environment and ensures that all practicals and experiments are prepared for each class, there are adequate chemicals and equipment required and administrative tasks are completed. </p><p><b>The successful applicant will demonstrate: </b></p><ul><li>The capacity to safely and effectively prepare Science practicals and experiments </li><li>Appropriate knowledge and understanding of Science practicals including the safe handling and storage of chemicals </li><li>A sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements including the safe management, storage, handling and labelling of hazardous material </li><li>The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team and at times autonomously </li><li>A willingness to undergo any relevant training appropriate for the role </li><li>Commitment to supporting a positive religious and cultural Catholic School environment. </li></ul><p><b>The role </b></p><ul><li>The role of the Laboratory Assistant includes (but is not limited to): </li><li>Stock control of resources including preparation of orders and maintenance of stock levels and appropriate storage </li><li>Maintenance and cleanliness of science equipment and resources </li><li>Preparation and support of teachers for science practicals, demonstrations and experiments </li><li>Assist in Risk Assessments for the use of chemicals and in practicals and experiments </li><li>Management of chemicals in accordance with compliance and MSDS sheets </li><li>All dangerous goods and hazardous substances are identified within the school and included in a chemical register </li><li>Ensure all signage is complete, accurate and compliant </li><li>Collection of resources from external sources where necessary </li><li>Attend meetings as requested by the Principal and/or Leader of Learning. </li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>You will have attained: </b></p><ul><li>Sydney Catholic Schools Employee ID number</li><li>Working With Children Check</li></ul><p><b>Statement of Commitment to Child Safety </b></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1moHWv3A7WHapPQqPo5_J5QWsAk0pAJzi/view?usp&#61;sharing" rel="nofollow">Click here</a> to access SCS&#39; Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and join us in creating a culture of child safety and wellbeing.</p><p><b>Working With Children Check (WWCC) </b></p><p>This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment. </p><p><i>Please note candidates may be interviewed and appointed prior to the closing date.</i></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
