<p>St Mary’s Cathedral College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for the position of Instructional Leader STEM (Years 5-8). This newly created leadership role attracts a 2 point remuneration and time allocation. This is a full-time position commencing Term 1, 2024. </p><p><b>About the role:</b></p><p>The Instructional Leader forms part of the middle leadership team. The position is co-responsible with the Pastor, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context. Reporting to the Dean of Middle Years, the Instructional Leader plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community.</p><p>The Instructional Leader is responsible for leading schoolwide excellence in pedagogical, curriculum and assessment practices and supporting the implementation of new pedagogies for learning in their key learning area(s). The Instructional Leader is an exemplary practitioner who builds the capacity of teachers to deliver excellent student outcomes. Primarily this role oversees the Science and Mathematics KLAs in Stages 3 and 4.</p><p><b>Major Accountabilities:<br /></b>The Instructional Leader is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to: </p><ul><li>Promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools' mission and vision; To know and love Christ through learning, and thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning.</li><li>Supporting the leadership of a school-wide culture of excellence, informed decision-making, and collaborative practice.</li><li>Working with the leadership team and other stakeholders in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic change.</li><li>Actively promoting the integration of Catholic values and Catholic Social Teaching across the curriculum.</li><li>Ensuring consistency of teaching practice and shared teacher judgement drives assessment.</li><li>Demonstrating exemplary classroom teaching practice in their curriculum speciality.</li><li>Cultivating a contemporary and effective learning culture.</li><li>Developing and implementing effective and evidence-based professional learning to build the capacity of teachers.</li><li>Ensuring evaluation of teaching and teachers’ goal setting related to performance and monitoring performance goal achievement.</li><li>Leading and collaborating within a culture of ongoing growth and improvement.</li><li>Demonstrating organisational, management and leadership skills.</li><li>Analysing data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth.</li><li>Actively promoting the relationship between student wellbeing and learning growth.</li><li>Contributing to a ‘network approach’ that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school system.</li></ul><p><b>Key Duties<br /></b>In this position, your primary duties will include:</p><ul><li>Demonstrating and leading exemplary, innovative and evidence-based real-world learning practice in selecting, organising and evaluating the content and delivering learning and teaching programs in STEM.</li><li>Tracking student performance within the faculty and ensuring that effective assessment, responsiveness to data, timely feedback and differentiation are embedded within teaching programs and practices.</li><li>Leading educational contexts to develop robust, real-world STEM-infused learning environments and supporting teachers' professional development of all experience levels.</li><li>Leading the development and delivery of integrated and cross-curricular teaching, learning and assessment in the area of STEM.</li><li>Explicitly monitoring and supporting teachers to integrate the skills and knowledge of STEM subject matter.</li><li>Coordinating administrative and compliance processes related to curriculum and assessment for Stage 3 Science and Technology, Stage 4 Science, Stages 3 & 4 Mathematics.</li><li>Developing a strong connection through feeder primary schools’ integrated STEM initiatives.</li><li>Developing effective collaboration and cooperative practices with the Instructional Leaders.
