Catholic Education has a network of 18 Catholic schools in the Northern Territory - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools.</p> <p><b>Position Summary: </b></p> <p>The AISS is responsible to the Deputy Director, Teaching and Learning through the Leader of Inclusion Support Services for the provision of professional assistance to Catholic schools with students requiring individualised programs.</p> <p><b>The Advisor will: </b></p> <p><b>● </b>Provide support and advice to Catholic school principals, teachers and support staff to assist them to develop learning and teaching programs for students requiring adjustment plans (APs);</p> <p>● Assist Principals, Teachers and support staff to develop appropriate pedagogical skills and learning programs to deliver individualised programs to students with identified special needs.</p> <p><b>Essential Criteria: </b></p> <p>● Knowledge of the current Australian Government and CENT policies, including those relating to the Disability Discrimination Act and Disability Standards for Education, and an understanding of the education of students with special needs;</p> <p>● Excellent knowledge of current curriculum, theory and practice in relation to special needs programs and assessment tools;</p> <p>● Demonstrated awareness of the social, economic and cultural diversity within the NT;</p> <p>● Successful, inclusive classroom teaching experience;</p> <p>● Significant experience and knowledge of Inclusive Education theory and practice in the development of programs to support students with diverse needs;</p> <p>● Experience in working effectively and collaboratively with principals and staff in schools in the preparation and delivery of professional learning programs;</p> <p>● Skills in writing policies for students with special educational needs;</p> <p>● Skills and capacity to use and interpret diagnostic educational assessments;</p> <p>● Capacity to coordinate responses and meet timelines for reporting purposes;</p> <p>● Commitment to Catholic education;</p> <p>● Proven capacity to work effectively with students with disabilities and their families, and with Indigenous students and parents;</p> <p>● Communication skills of a high order, clear record of effective task completion and self-reliance;</p> <p>● Proficiency and currency of ICT skills to undertake the responsibilities of the position</p> <p>● Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), or application for such;</p> <p>● NT Driver’s License</p> <p><b>Qualifications required: </b></p> <p><b>●</b> Eligibility for registration as a teacher in the Northern Territory (or willingness to apply for such);</p> <p>● Appropriate tertiary qualifications or experience in Special Education.</p> <p>This position will involve working with children.
