Head of Outdoor Education

<p><b>About the Role </b></p>
<p>We are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader who will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering an immersive outdoor education program that engages students in outdoor experiences. The Head of Outdoor Education will be responsible for leading and managing the whole school's outdoor education program, developing and implementing the curriculum, coordinating and managing camps and programs, monitoring and supporting student progress and collaborating and communicating with relevant stakeholders. The Head of Outdoor Education will work to deliver relevant areas of the CGS100 strategic plan.</p>
<p>The CGS outdoor education program encompasses a range of activities, programs, and events with a fundamental focus on personal development, connections with peers, teachers and the environment and building resilience, problem-solving methodology and collaboration skills.</p>
<p>As the Head of Outdoor Education, you will ensure that the department is meeting academic and administrative goals and that it is aligned with the overall mission and vision of the school. You will provide leadership, support and guidance to teaching staff and Outdoor Education Assistants, as well as promote a positive and inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and supports the values of the school in partnership with the Director of Active Education (Senior School) and the Director of Service and Action (Primary School).</p>
<p><b>About You </b></p>
<p>You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:</p>
<p>• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of outdoor education principles and practices.</p>
<p>• Ability to create and deliver a diverse and immersive outdoor education curriculum.</p>
<p>• Knowledge of relevant work health and safety and risk management procedures.</p>
<p>• Instructional qualification or demonstrated experience in areas such as canoeing, kayaking, bushwalking, caving, adventure-based learning, rock climbing, mountain biking, high ropes and low ropes</p>
<p>• Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and safety guidelines in outdoor education.</p>
<p>• The ability to implement initiatives, project delivery and change management</p>
<p>• A high degree of technical knowledge and a commitment to ongoing professional learning</p>
<p>• Ability to perform successfully with responsibility for the management and development of other staff</p>
<p>• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to advise and liaise across all levels of an organisation and with parents and guardians</p>
<p>• The ability to work collaboratively with other members of staff and lead others.</p>
<p>• Administrative and organisational skills.</p>
<p>• Communication and interpersonal skills.</p>
<p>• Commitment to the full life of an independent school and a willingness to engage in School activities out of regular hours.</p>

<p>• A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card</p>
<p>• A current National Police Check; and</p>
