St Dominic’s College, Kingswood is a Catholic school in the Blessed Edmund Rice tradition conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia. Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1959, the College has a current enrolment of 1000 boys, Years 7 – 12. <p>St Dominic’s College, Kingswood is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, suitably qualified College for a temporary part-time contract for 2023. Start date to be negotiated. </p><p>We are seeking an innovative College Counsellor with a passion and enthusiasm for providing support to the College community. The position involves face to face counselling at the College for 4 days per week (days to be negotiated). The College Counsellor reports directly to the Senior College Psychologist and will need to work collaboratively with the Director of Pastoral Care and teaching staff The College has a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of all members of the College community and this position would suit an applicant who is able to work effectively within this context. </p><p>The successful applicant will be committed to the advancement of student learning and; </p><ul><li>Must have a strong commitment and/or appreciation of Catholic values, morals and faith. </li><li>Must have tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, or a related discipline </li><li>Will be eligible for and maintain membership with a professional organisation e.g. APS, AAPI, ACA, PACRA </li><li>Will be able to demonstrate knowledge of issues relating to young people, in particular adolescent boys. </li><li>Will be able to demonstrate experience providing counselling services to young people individually and in small groups. </li><li>Will be able to demonstrate experience in working with families of neurodiverse young people and assisting them to navigate high school experience. </li><li>Must have well developed, interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students in enhancing the quality of learning and development of young minds. </li></ul><h5>Highly desirable criteria: </h5><ul><li>Excellent organisation and planning skills; must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities within given deadlines </li><li>Sound knowledge of the unique learning needs of young men. </li><li>High levels of interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with parents/carers, teachers and other persons who provide support to students. </li><li>Knowledge and willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning, engage in psycho-educational research and evidence-based practice. </li><li>Be actively involved in and supportive of College extra-curricular activities </li></ul><p>Applicants are encouraged to visit the College website <a href="" rel="nofollow"></a> for further information about the College. </p><p>Inquiries for the position can be directed to the Human Resources Manager, Melissa Gorham via <a href="mailto:hr&#64;" rel="nofollow">hr&#64;</a> </p><h5>Applications should include: </h5><ul><li>A covering letter addressing the highly desirable criteria (1 page max.) </li><li>NSW Working With Children Clearance number and date of birth </li><li>COVID 19 Vaccination status </li><li>Accreditation/membership status with professional organisation </li><li>Current curriculum vitae, detailing professional qualifications </li><li>Name and contact details for three (3) referees, including your current employer (where applicable) </li></ul><p><br /></p><p> </p><h5>Application Instructions: </h5><p>Applications should be addressed to the College Principal, Mr Simon Abernethy and emailed to hr&#64; by 9am, Monday 6th February 2023. </p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>At St Dominic&#39;s College we are committed to ensuring that our recruitment practices create a safe and supportive environment for all students.
