At JPC, we strive for excellence in teaching so that our students are offered every opportunity for success in their learning. This is an exciting, new position to the College and will be central to the establishment of a new library space within the College due to be opened at the start of the 2025 school year.</p><p>The Teacher Librarian will join a community of committed teachers who work with leaders in the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. This includes in content knowledge, teaching methodologies, classroom management, assessment and reporting, and professional development within their subject areas. Teachers also support student wellbeing through creating safe and inclusive learning environments where all students can flourish.</p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities </strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture</li><li>An exciting new library space with the opportunity to establish new programs and procedures within this environment</li><li>Extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, Catalyst </li><li>Involvement in our Professional Growth Program including: Professional Learning Communities, Instructional Coaching, or Career Mentoring</li><li>24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption) </li><li>Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave) </li><li>Support for professional development and study opportunities</li><li>Opportunities to transfer to other schools within the Archdiocese across ACT and NSW to support lifestyle choice </li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Develop and maintain the library as a welcoming and supportive learning environment for the whole school community.</li><li>Lead the development and implementation of the library programs including, but not limited to, the whole school reading program, parent engagement programs and information literacy programs.</li><li>Work with teachers and Faculty leaders to deliver relevant and flexible library and information literacy lessons appropriate to students.</li><li>Promote knowledge of and passion for reading amongst the community.</li><li>Support the induction of new students and staff into college and library information systems and processes.</li><li>Support the implementation of information literacy in curriculum and pedagogy.</li><li>Plan annual calendar of events including co-curricular activities to engage and excite students including Book Week celebrations and other key points throughout the year.</li><li>Provide just in time tutoring to senior students.</li><li>Manage library resources, including print and digital materials, as well as library equipment and facilities.</li><li>Use the library management system and oversee the cataloguing of resources.</li><li>Provide professional learning opportunities for teaching and support staff to maximise engagement with library resources.</li><li>Manage library staff and parent volunteers.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications </strong></p><ul><li>Must hold tertiary Teaching qualification preferably in the field of a teacher librarian</li><li>Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.</li><li>Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation.</li></ul><p><strong>Selection Criteria </strong></p><ol><li>Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues, students, and parents;</li><li>Demonstrated high level IT skills and an ability to communicate and upskill other staff in the use of new technologies.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning including a comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students;</li><li>Skills in maintaining an efficient and thorough system of identifying, organising, circulating, and retrieving resources;</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of library collection management including purchasing, budgeting, and ‘weeding’ to ensure a balanced and rich collection to meet the needs of students and staff.</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the position description for in-depth details regarding the position duties, criteria, and skill set required.</i> </p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria </strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position. </li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy. </li></ul><p><strong>Application Process</strong> </p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes, and experience as outlined in the Position Description. </p><p>This position involves working with children.
