The UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) is recruiting for a Secondary School Teacher, Software Engineering (formerly Software Design and Development) to join the Wanago Program.

<p>The UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) is recruiting for a Secondary School Teacher, Software Engineering (formerly Software Design and Development) to join the Wanago Program. The purpose of the Wanago Program is to address systematic high school education gaps in the delivery STEM subjects. Wanago is part of UTS’s future proofing plan to create the technologically-skilled workforce that Australia urgently needs. The Program aligns with the University’s commitment to social justice and inclusion, seeking to build the participation rates of student cohorts traditionally under-represented in technology and science studies.</p>
<p><b>About the role </b></p>
<p>The Wanago Secondary School Teacher will be a qualified teacher with approval to teach Stage 6 Software Engineering (formerly Software Design and Development) and one other STEM subject by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) at the Ultimo Campus for 2024. The appointed teacher will be part of a great teaching team and will have an important role in ensuring the teaching and learning needs of Year 11 and 12 students are catered for through explicit and systematic teaching in line with NESA requirements, as well as participating actively towards initiatives designed to drive the Faculty’s 2027 strategic plan.</p>
<p>The role offers flexible working arrangements which currently involve teaching Tuesday - Thursday and WFH on Monday/Friday. Other benefits include:</p>

<p><b>About you </b></p>
<p>The appointed teacher will be required to be an active participant in a range of external engagement projects of an academic nature within the Faculty and will frequently be required to work with multiple conflicting priorities. Interacting across the university with stakeholders and with a wide variety of academic and professional staff, the Wanago Secondary School Teacher will need to self-manage and work in a semi-autonomous manner to achieve the required outcomes and expectations of the role.</p>

<p>1. Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous programs, which effectively assess student progress, provide quality feedback, and differentiate to meet the needs of all students, face-to-face and online.</p>
<p>2. Ability to engage in and foster industry partnerships and collaboration.</p>
<p>3. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive, teaching and learning programs</p>
<p>4. Demonstrated experience and/or an approval to teach Stage 6 Software Engineering (formerly Software Design and Development), and other Stage 6 STEM subjects.</p>
<p>5. Demonstrated ability to participate in the planning and delivery of teaching and learning programs to ensure a rich and engaging curriculum that address the strengths of a diverse range of students including gifted and talented students.</p>
<p><b>Remuneration & Benefits </b></p>
<p><b>Base Salary Range: </b>$113,282 to $129,017 pa (HEW 8)</p>
<p><i>The salary for the position is based on your teaching experience, years of service, accreditation from the NSW Education Standards Authority, the NSW Department of Education’s Teacher Salaries Standards Based Remuneration and the selection criteria for the position. </i></p>
<p>This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) <b>in addition</b> to the base salary.</p>

<p>This position is <b>full-time </b>and the appointment will be made on a <b>fixed term basis for 2 years. </b></p>
