It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKilllop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.</p> <p>Children in Out-of-Home Care are a high priority client group of MacKillop Education, as are adolescents at risk of leaving school without vocational skills.</p> <p>The School provides flexible learning pathways that equip participants with the skills to either re-enter a mainstream school or pursue alternative pathways, including further education, training or employment. It teaches to the Victorian Curriculum (P-10) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) at years 11 and 12. They will work collaboratively to develop and deliver highly effective and engaging learning programs that are suited to the diverse needs of our students and meet the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum.</p> <p><br></p> <p><b>Primary objectives: </b></p> <p>The Generalist Teacher will design and deliver learning programs that meet the needs of all students and is compliant with curriculum requirements. This includes classroom teaching and 1:1 intensive student support as required. In collaboration with Learning &amp; Teaching leaders, they contribute to the development of trauma-informed education programs appropriate to the identified learning and wellbeing requirements of children with complex and diverse needs, who have often experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. In collaboration with the Wellbeing &amp; Engagement leaders, they assist students to develop their social and emotional skills, to improve their educational outcomes.</p> <p><br></p> <p><b>To be successful in this role, you will have:</b><br></p> <p>• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.</p> <p>• A four-year teaching qualification or equivalent and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration</p> <p>• Demonstrated understanding of and experience in implementing highly aspirational initiatives in student learning, informed by the Victorian Curriculum (or other state curriculums)</p> <p>• Experience in the design, delivery and assessment of programs that cater for diverse and complex needs of individual learners and a commitment to trauma-informed practice</p> <p><b><br></b></p> <p><b>For a full listing please view <a href="https://candidate.aurion.cloud/mackillop/production/file/recadvert/T303~%7C~2913606506762199~1~%7C~00H2W7S9XX13DSPW~%7C~PDF~%7C~2~%7C~Position%20Description_GenTeachSec_2023%20%283%29.pdf" rel="nofollow">Position Description</a>. </b></p> <p><br></p> <p><b>You must have a:</b></p> <ul> <li>Valid and current Driver’s Licence;</li> <li>Satisfactory Criminal History Check;</li> <li>Valid Working with Children Check;</li> <li>Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (We can help with application if successful)</li> </ul> <p>The Australian Government recently introduced the NDIS Worker Screening Check, an additional, national legislated compliance requirement to determine if a person is cleared to work with people with disability. MacKillop requires all client facing staff obtain the NDIS Worker Screening Check.
